What an incredible World Stroke Day Information Event we had yesterday!!! Over 300 people came through the doors.
It was the official launch of our Neath Port Talbot Wellbeing After Stroke Project – NPT WASP with our amazing partners Neath Port Talbot Mind. It is a 3 year project delivering a mental health and wellbeing service to local stroke survivors their loved ones and carers. Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund/ Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol for funding us.
Our event had over 50 exhibitors offering a huge range of services that will help anyone that has been affected by stroke.
We had 5 stroke specific speakers. Dr Abankwa, Rachel Diplock for introducing NPT Neath Port Talbot Wellbeing After Stroke Project – NPT WASP, Jason Haynes and Michael Pursey.
Michael very kindly donated us £1700 which he raised by climbing Pen Y Fan. Michael first attended our World Stroke Day event in 2019 unable to walk and he was in a wheelchair and unable to speak due to a severe stroke. 4 years later he’s speaking at our event, walking unaided and has recently got his license back and is driving. Mike you are such an inspiration.
Thank you to all our hard working volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do this without you. Our volunteers do not get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.
